The Malta Online Directory has embarked on an ambitious project, and it needs your help.
In a nutshell: An online searchable directory of contact information of Maltese residents and businesses via a simple Google-style interface.
At the moment, contact details of Maltese people and businesses are spread across a number of publications, sometimes making it very difficult to locate the contact details of someone. Furthermore, currently existing online searches are not very easy to use. We have encountered this problem many times ourselves, so we figured that what we need is a centralised repository of contact information with a Google-style interface to easily search for the contact required. So the Malta Online Directory was born!
Where does the data come from? It comes directly from our customers! Customers are kindly asked to submit their contact information to make this idea workable, for other people to find them. If everybody were to submit their own details, everybody can enjoy an instant search of contact information. Click here if you would like to submit your details. We value your privacy, so make sure you read our privacy policy as well. You can remove your account and details any time you want.
Our service is completely free of charge. Charging for our service would be out of point, and against our philosophy. Our dream is to make the directory available for everyone, and this means that it has to be free of charge. We are not getting paid for this, at least not for the time being. We have a few ideas that could get us some revenue, but these are on our "to do" list.
The cost of providing a free service is that it is not financially possible to make adverts on the mass media. Because of this, we are asking you to recommend us to your friends by clicking here. Through this link you can easily send recommendation e-mails to your friends by just entering their e-mail address (we do not store these e-mail addresses). There is no better marketing than word-of-mouth advertising, and everybody wins!
We really thought hard whether we should provide a Maltese version of our website. After all, it will be used by Maltese people first and foremost. However we decided to stick with the English version of the website for the following reasons:
Due to privacy concerns, most people might still be reluctant to post their telephone contact on the Internet (your e-mail address is never published). Somehow, however, they are comfortable with having their number published on a printed telephone directory. Maybe this is because the telephone directory is available only to telephone subscribers, rather than everybody in the world. Because of this, we are considering whether we will limit the website to Maltese IP addresses, which means that only computers in Malta and Gozo will be able to use the website. Let us know what you think about this by sending us some feedback.
We exist physically as well of course. Below is our registered postal address. We do not operate from this address however. We just use it for snail mail. As you can see, the Malta Online Directory is owned by a limited liability company producing computer software.
